To our Lasallian family,
Happy New Year!
If there is one phrase that encapsulates the Lasallian charism and experience, it’s this:
Live Jesus in our hearts . . . Forever.
We look to our hearts for guidance, for answers, for our deepest truths. The essence of what we are is reflected in our hearts. And for those of us who have witnessed and lived first-hand the love and work of the Christian Brothers, that love is now rooted in our hearts. That love connects us as part of the world-wide Lasallian family.
Today, in that spirit of Lasallian family, we are proud to introduce the inaugural issue of
In Our Hearts, our newsletter focused on legacy and planned giving. St. John Baptist de La Salle and that group of teachers with whom he lived and taught have left us a legacy—the legacy of the Lasallian charism, dedication to education, and to the betterment of others. It is the legacy of the Lasallian family—a legacy we hold deep in our hearts to this very day.
There comes a time in our lives too, when we look to the legacy that we will leave. We ask if we have been good parents or friends, if we have lived a good life, if the world is a better place for our having been here. We ask if we have given back for all the blessings we have received. We ask how people will remember us. The Christian Brothers have touched the hearts of many, and in this newsletter and on our new website
legacy.cbmidwest.org, you will find stories of those who have chosen to remember the Brothers as part of their legacy. You will also find information on the ways that you too can include the Christian Brothers as part of your legacy.
The teaching and example of the Christian Brothers has been passed down over more than 300 years, where it has now taken root in our hearts. It has become foundational in the way we live our lives. It is the legacy passed to us from St. John Baptist de La Salle himself through the Christian Brothers of today. We hope that
In Our Hearts will assist you in considering the legacy that you will pass down to those that you love, making the world a better place for your having been here.
Live Jesus in our hearts . . . FOREVER!
Have a blessed, healthy new year.
